Year-end garden

In anticipation of a hard freeze this week, Lincoln & I harvested the rest of the peppers and red tomatoes today.  I think Lincoln was ecstatic when I told him he could pick whatever he wanted off the tomato plants.  He's been wanting to do that all summer!

I am amazed daily by the ginormous marigolds that flourished in the garden this year.  They literally formed a 2' x 2' wall.  Funny how seeds harvested from a spindly plant in a crowded pot the year before can explode in more ideal growing conditions.

Here is a close-up of a praying mantis in the garden.  This one was about 6" long.  I spotted one last week, too (maybe it was the same one).  They are kind of creepy. :op
